Tony is specialised in the use of Mulligan (mobilisations with movement) techniques, deep tissue massage, myofascial release and trigger point therapy. These gentle but highly effective pain-relieving techniques can quickly and comfortably help get you moving and back to full function.
Dry needling is an acupuncture technique physiotherapists use to relieve myofascial pain and relax overactive muscles. The technique uses a ‘dry’ needle (i.e. without medication or injection), inserted into tender areas of areas of the muscle, known as trigger points.
Rehabilitation involves the use of graded therapeutic exercises to enable full recovery of injured tissue. Motion is lotion! We heal naturally through movement and loading. Tony is an expert at safely guiding you through what exercises to do and how much to do in order to maximise your recovery potential in the shortest time possible.
Cognitive functional therapy (CFT) is a patient-centred multidimensional approach to the assessment and treatment of persistent low back pain pioneered by Professor Peter O'Sullivan, one of the world's leading authorites on back pain. It is a treatment approach to low back pain that is supported by strong scientific evidence. It combines elements of cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing, with detailed analysis of movement patterns and behaviours. Tony has been using CFT for many years with great success, particularly with those patients that have tried and failed more conventional treatments elsewhere.
